It seems simple enough. You know you can do it, but you just...can’t.

You haven’t finished it because either you…

Or maybe all of the above!

The details

What exactly is The Zone?

The Zone is a month-long program designed to help you complete a project (or two or three) that you’ve been unable to complete, for whatever reason.

The purpose of the program is to give you:

  • A plan
  • Motivation
  • Time and space
  • Support
  • And most importantly... Accountability

How does it work?

First, you choose some project(s). You'll think of some things you really, really want to get done but haven’t been able to, for whatever reason.

Next, we meet one-on-one. You and I will have a 30-minute planning call to discuss your projects, your challenges, and your goals.

After that, I create a plan. I'll email you a plan for tackling your project(s) over the next month.

Then, we do. Everyone in the program — up to 12 people — can join up to eight 2-hour Zoom working sessions, held twice a week.

This is where the magic happens!

  • At the beginning of each session, we’ll do introductions and share what we’ll be working on.
  • Then we'll turn off our mics and cameras (and phones and email and Facebook and pets and kids) and focus on our individual projects.
  • Shortly before the end of the session, we'll turn our cameras and mics back on and share and celebrate our achievements.

You'll get at least 90 minutes of heads-down, hyper-focused, distraction-free work time.

You’ll have your plan to guide you. And I'll be there to chat, text, or talk on the phone if you get stuck or have questions.

Your Zone-mates will be there as your accountability partners, waiting to provide ideas and inspiration, cheer you on, and celebrate your accomplishments.

I know it sounds weird, but trust me... I’ve done it, and it works! (More on that below.)

It sounds weird.

OK, that’s not a question, but I hear you.

I signed up for a program like this at the suggestion of a friend, and I just could not wrap my head around how or why it would work. Really?  I was going to pay money to sit on a Zoom with a bunch of strangers and work off-camera? That’s just weird.

But then I met with the coach and got some advice and perspective on my projects, and she gave me a plan.

Then I got on a Zoom and met a bunch of other interesting people talking about interesting projects. I started getting excited to turn off my camera and mic and buckle down.

I closed the door, turned off my phone and email, opened up a Google Doc, and wrote a 5-page plan for a project I’d been struggling with for a looooong time.

Would I have accomplished that if left to my own devices? Nope. Would I have checked my email, put laundry in the dryer, played with my kitten, gone on Facebook, called my mom, watered the garden, and done a dozen other things that were easier and more fun? Yep.

But I didn’t, because my coach had gotten me pumped up to work on my project. Because my mates were right there waiting for me to hear what I’d accomplished. Because I paid for that time and, darnit, I was going to get my money’s worth.

You will, too!

What's the cost and what does it include?

The cost of the month-long program is $195. This includes:

  • A 30-minute one-on-one planning call
  • A plan of attack for your project(s)
  • Eight 2-hour Zone working sessions
  • Unbridled feelings of accomplishment, joy, freedom, lightness, and relief!

What types of projects can I work on in The Zone?

I suggest starting with something small-ish that you can do in your home or office. Here are some ideas...

Organize

  • Your desk
  • Your recipes
  • Your email inbox

Declutter

  • Your file drawers
  • Your closet
  • Your pantry

Plan

  • Your meals
  • An event
  • Summer vacation

Write

  • Thank you notes
  • A presentation
  • Your novel

If you finish your project early, you can move on to another one and accomplish even more!

How many people will be in The Zone at once?

The Zone has room for twelve people. Just like you, they’re people who want to get something done but have obstacles they haven't been able to get past.

Your Zone-mates will become your accountability partners, provide ideas and inspiration, cheer you on, and celebrate your accomplishments.

Do I have to tell everyone what I’m working on or show them my mess?

Not unless you want to!

The goals of The Zone are to give you:

  • A plan
  • Motivation
  • Time and space
  • Support
  • And most importantly... Accountability

You can decide how you’re most comfortable operating in The Zone, and you can choose to have a different experience in every working session.

Your Zone-mates are all people like you who have their own challenges and struggles. You’ll likely have things in common, and many of you will end up sharing ideas and cheering each other on. There will be lots of compassion, generosity, and support.

You can show them your space or project, or you can keep it to yourself. But I think there will be times you’ll be so excited about what you’ve accomplished that you’ll want to share!

What if I can’t finish my project?

It's OK! You don’t have to finish your project by the end of the program.

Either way, you’re going to accomplish way more than you would have outside of The Zone.

If you get stuck, I can help in a few ways:

  • During The Zone working sessions, you and I can talk on chat, text, or phone about how to overcome your challenges
  • We can book additional one-on-one sessions at a discount off my hourly rate and develop a plan that's more realistic
  • You can sign up for the next scheduled Zone program and continue working on it

Also, we can always reprioritize and switch to another project in the middle of the program.

Remember, I'm your personal coach. Whatever your challenges, I'll work with you to come up with a solution.

What if I finish my project early?

First, we’ll celebrate you. Then you can put your feet up and rest... or you can start another project and accomplish even more!

What do I need to do to prepare and participate?

You’ll need a laptop, tablet, or phone with a camera so I can see your space (if necessary) and your smiling face.

Then,

  • Think of a project or three that you’re considering working on, why you want to get them done, and why you haven't been able to get them done.
  • Complete a quick questionnaire
  • Show up for our planning call
  • Join some or all of The Zone working sessions

Do I have to come to all of The Zone working sessions?

Nope! All of The Zone working sessions are optional. But the more often you come, the more you’ll likely get done.

What if I need help during a Zone working session?

You can ask for help from the group at the beginning and end of the Zoom, and you and I can have a private chat, text, or phone call any time during the session.

Who are you, Coach?

I'm Lisa Linard, and I'm a professional organizer near Boston, Massachusetts. You can learn more about me and what I do at the very bottom of this page.
